I’ve been wiping butts for 7 years now. Actually a lot longer if you really want to get technical. To be honest, I don’t quite remember my life before all this poop talk. I’ve been spit up on, peed on, puked on and pooped on for almost a decade now and my fear is that it’s never going away. My kids are infatuated with talking about it too. It’s like casual conversation in my house now. For example one day my daughter called me in the bathroom (to wipe her butt of course) and she couldn’t get over her pretty, green poop! “It’s so beautiful Mom, it’s green!” “Oh Livy please just wash your hands.” I said.
I’m telling you if someone told me 10 years ago I would be having a conversation with my daughter on how pretty her poop was, I would have laughed. Now since the jokes on me, I have no choice to try to ignore it. So in between changing my almost two-year olds poopy diapers, wiping my four-year olds butt and cleaning the poopy diapers off my lawn that my lovely golden retriever likes to munch on, I might as well talk about it. I mean it’s become a way of life now!
There was a point in my house where I was changing two diapers and wiping my then four-year-old son’s butt on occasion all while trying to breastfeed a newborn and potty train a two and a half-year old. I never realized how much bodily fluid was being passed around my house until much later. Luckily we made it through potty training and I weaned my baby off of me at seven months.
I guess I’ve been knee-deep in poop for seven years now but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
All I can do is take it one poop at a time!
